You can rewire your brain…one small promise at a time.

I want to share this with you because it changed my life back in 2023.

Yesterday I listened to a podcast that really reminded me of something I’d actually forgotten I’d done myself during one of the hardest periods of my life.

It hit me hard because it explained something I’ve struggled with many times before.

Why do we fail at the things we say we want?

The answer wasn’t motivation.
It wasn’t discipline either.

It was trust.

Not trust in other people, but trust in ourselves.

The idea was simple: Your brain is constantly learning whether to believe you or not.

Every time you say:
“I’ll start tomorrow.”
“I’ll go to the gym.”
“I’ll eat healthier.”
“I’ll learn more.”
“I’ll change my life…”

…and then you don’t follow through…

➡️ your brain slowly starts building evidence that your thoughts and words don’t lead to action.

But the opposite is also true.

Every small action you complete starts rewiring your brain in the other direction.

That’s neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to adapt, change, and build new pathways through repeated behaviour. Research around habit formation and self-efficacy shows that consistently completing small actions can strengthen confidence and create momentum toward bigger behavioural changes.

And honestly this changed my life.

Back in 2023, when my health was at its worst, I made a decision:

I didn’t just want a long life.
I wanted a long healthy life!

I wanted energy.
Clarity.
Strength.
A body that could be there for my family.

So I started with tiny promises.

Go to the gym.
Eat one healthy meal.
Learn something about nutrition.
Go for a walk.
Get sunlight.
Sleep earlier.

Nothing dramatic.

But every time I followed through, I proved something to myself:
“I’m becoming the type of person who does what he says he’ll do.”

And over time, those tiny actions completely changed the direction of my health and my life.

So here’s something simple for you today:

Pick ONE small task.

It could be:
🚶🏼‍♂️ A 10-minute walk
🍳 Cooking one healthy meal
💦 Drinking more water
😴 Going to bed earlier
🧴 Doing the dishwasher
📚 Reading 5 pages of a book

Whatever it is…

Complete it.

Because sometimes the smallest actions are the first step toward rewiring your entire future.
